Why people on Hacker News comment without reading

I am quite sure a big % of people on Hacker News comments on articles they haven't even opened, let alone read. Maybe I am completely wrong though.

I'll organize comments from the thread in here later if a discussion actually develops like I did here some time ago.

BTW this "article" is based on an NPR stunt I read about in the book "Trust me. I'm lying".
